Unfortunately, overuse hip labrum injuries are very common in cutting sports. The cause is generally unknown. However, I came across this flow chart recently that I felt did a very good job in describing the process of hip labrum overuse injuries. There are typically 2 mechanisms, abnormal morphology and repetitive low load on the hip, which occur in athletes. Check out the videos below where I take you through the flow chart and explain how hip labrum injuries occur in athletes.
If you know someone who has a hip labrum injury, share these videos with them so they have a better understanding of what may have caused the injury and how they can work on managing it.
